Is it safe to drive with the check engine light on?
A steady light usually means you can drive carefully to the shop. A flashing light means an active misfire that can destroy the catalytic converter — pull over and call us instead.
Can I just get the code read for free at a parts store?
You can, and it is a useful starting point. But a code points at a system, not a part. We use the code as the first step of a diagnosis, then test the circuit before anything gets replaced.
How much does a check engine light diagnosis cost?
It depends on how deep the fault is buried. We quote the diagnostic time up front, and you get a RepairPal fair-price estimate for the repair before any work starts.
Why did the light come back after I cleared it?
Because the fault is still there. Clearing a code resets the memory; the moment the computer sees the same condition again, it stores it again.
