Cooling system FAQ
How often should coolant be changed?
Most manufacturers specify an interval by both time and mileage, and Arizona heat is hard on coolant. We check its condition and strength at every visit and tell you when it is genuinely due.
Can I just add water?
In an emergency, to get somewhere safe. Water alone boils sooner, offers no corrosion protection, and causes problems if it stays in the system.
My car only overheats in traffic — why?
At speed, airflow through the radiator does the cooling. In traffic, the fan does. That pattern usually means the fan, its relay or a temperature sensor.
How do you find a leak I cannot see?
We pressurize the cold system and watch where it drops, and we use dye when the leak is slow or internal.
Is it safe to keep driving a car that overheats a little?
No. Aluminium heads warp quickly, and that turns a hose repair into engine work.
