Is a whining differential urgent?
It is not usually a stop-driving fault, but it does get worse and the repair gets larger. Early service often means fluid and bearings instead of a gear set.
Could that noise be a wheel bearing instead?
Often, yes. We road test in a way that separates bearing noise from gear noise before we quote anything.
How often should differential fluid be changed?
It depends on the vehicle and whether you tow. We check the condition and follow the manufacturer interval for your model.
Do limited-slip differentials need special fluid?
Most need a friction modifier, or they chatter on turns. We use exactly what your vehicle specifies.
Can a differential be rebuilt, or does it need replacing?
Both are possible. We measure the damage first, then price both routes so you can choose.
